Gearbox Repairs Made Affordable

Transmission issues don’t always mean expensive replacements. Many main dealers might suggest replacing your entire gearbox with a new unit, often quoting thousands for the job.

At Essex Automatics, we believe in providing a smarter, more cost-effective alternative. Our team specializes in repairing or rebuilding your existing transmission, saving you from unnecessary and costly replacements

Signs You May Have a Faulty Transmission:

------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Slipping gears or delayed gear engagement

  • Loss of power, especially at certain speeds

  • Strange noises such as whining, clunking, or grinding

  • Fluid leaks under your vehicle

  • Burning smell coming from the transmission

  • The vehicle not moving when in gear

  • Check engine light or transmission warning light illuminated

While these symptoms often point to a transmission issue, other factors can mimic gearbox problems, such as:

  • Engine Performance Issues: Faulty sensors (e.g., MAF, oxygen, or differential pressure sensors), air-fuel ratio problems, or clogged intake/exhaust systems can cause hesitation or power loss that feels like slipping.

  • ABS and Traction Control Faults: Malfunctioning ABS or wheel speed sensors can confuse the transmission control system, leading to poor shifting behavior.

  • Electrical or Control Unit Problems: A failing Transmission Control Module (TCM) or unstable voltage supply can affect gear changes and mimic mechanical faults.
