DSG
(Direct Shift Gearbox)

A direct-shift gearbox, commonly abbreviated to DSG, is an electronically controlled multiple-shaft manual
gearbox in a transaxle design, without a conventional clutch pedal and with fully automatic or semi-manual control. and was first introduced in Europe.

DSG is extremely common within vehicles across the entire Volkswagen-Audi group.

Typically these gearboxes do not tend to fail internally.
The most common faults with these particular gearboxes are either the Direct Shift Clutch (Dual Clutch) or the Mechatronic Unit (Gearbox ECU).

The Clutch suffers wear and tear and in some instances mechanical failure similar to how a clutch within a manual transmission would, so replacing the Dual Clutch will always eventually require replacement.

On occasion, bearings can wear and develop your typical whirring/whining noise, which we also have the facilities to replace.
All DSG Gearboxes or repairs carried out by us come with a 12,000 miles or 12 Month Guarantee
